kutnia

Kutnia is a Turkish lifestyle brand founded in 2017 in Gaziantep by Jülide Konukoğlu, built around the revival of Kutnu — a rare Ottoman-era fabric woven from silk and cotton that dates back to the 16th century and was once among the most coveted textiles in European and Ottoman court fashion. By the 19th century it had faded from production, and by the 21st it was nearly extinct. Kutnia was founded specifically to save it.

Through extensive R&D, the brand has modernised the weaving process — making the fabric lighter, more durable, and wider — while preserving its traditional character entirely. All fabric is woven on heritage looms in Gaziantep by master craftsmen, with younger artisans being trained alongside them to carry the craft forward.
